Helping you play through. Properly.
Being on the road can take a toll. From the travel between shows, the athletic performances, the ever-changing beds or cramped spaces, the load in/out, there are many ways your health can take a hit. Rock and metal shows are just as physically demanding as sport, with limited recovery time combined with repeated performances, night after night, and are underserved by the medical community.
‘Broken Spirits’ may be a little on the nose, but our mission is indeed to 'Revive' you by drawing on 16 years of experience in the sport and exercise medicine and science. Our Founder, Dr Steph Lazarczuk (PhD, MSc, GSR/BASRaT-reg, FHEA) draws on her substantial experience to lead this service, enabling artists to take the stage, and tours to keep rolling. We also cover production crews and provide festival cover. Whether you need treatment for an injury or are keen to prepare for tour and mitigate risk, we have you covered.
We offer several services (see below) which can be combined into a bespoke package that suits the demands, budget and UK locations of your tour. Services can be delivered at venues or accommodation as necessary, and individual dates or whole tour cover can be negotiated.
Injuries and niggles happen, but the show must go on.
"Thanks to Steph, I am now back doing what I love, stronger than before!"

Services
Check out the list below for a non-exhaustive list of available services. Click each option to find out more. Contact Steph to discuss your package inclusions. If you require a service that is not listed, please contact us as we may be able to facilitate this either ourselves or through partners.
Picked up an injury while performing or crewing? Carrying an injury or niggle from before? We can assess your injury and work with you to create a plan to manage this while you’re on the road.
We offer sports massage, assisted stretching and mobility work, compression therapy and a host of other manual techniques to help support performance and recover from shows. BSR is happy to guide you on self-management techniques and can also advise on strategies around sleep and nutrition to support recovery between shows. Your goals are important and directly determine what treatments fit best.
Staying physically active is important to many performers during tour. We can assist in sourcing gym access local to your shows and facilitate training as our staff are trained in exercise prescription for both general fitness and rehabilitation purposes.
We also produce bespoke training packages to help you prepare for tour, combining your time in the practice room honing your craft with the physical preparation to keep you stage-ready.
Trained for pre-hospital trauma care, we can provide advanced first aid services both backstage and side-of-stage, monitoring risks, and stepping in when things go awry.
If we're not onsite with you, we can also create your emergency action plans so you know what to do (see below).
We can help you and/or your Tour Manager prepare Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) for individual shows or whole tours, taking away the stress of the 'what if?' when things go wrong.
When injuries and illness happen, there is often a need to co-ordinate multiple services and sign-posting to the right service is the first step to recovery. We can be your 'one-call' service to facilitate appointments, direct you to the right local service based on your location, and link you with practitioners.
"Having experience as a practitioner in high performance environments, and as a leading researcher in her field, Steph is someone who offers a unique expertise."
